It’s not easy to announce the arrival of a new baby in the family. Involving your kids in the preparations and getting them ready depends on their age, level of understanding and acceptance. It’s good to know that:
-Your child don’t want to talk about the baby all the time.
-Answer his questions, and ask him what he thinks in return.
-Take your toddler to the doctor so he can meet the new baby and listen to the heartbeat.
-Keep your pregnancy positive and don’t talk to your child about your fatigue.
-Show your kid some photos of how you looked when you were pregnant with him/her.
-Spend time with families with babies so he can get familiar with the idea.
-Always express your love to your child, and reassure him that you still love him and take care of him no matter what happens.
-Keep the regular routine of your child as much as you can; avoid making major changes in his life like “starting a new daycare, completing potty training, removing pacifiers”.
-Always encourage your toddler to express his/her feelings and ease his/her fears.
